DEFINITION
Structured data — Standardized markup (schema.org: Product, Offer, Organization…) that makes a page's content machine-readable. The first thing an agent reads on a merchant site.
In practice
On a product page, Product + Offer markup carries name, SKU, price, currency, availability and terms. Markup inconsistent with the visible page downgrades the whole site's credibility. Generate it dynamically from the product database, never by hand.
